Yulista Books $100M Air Force Contract for T-38 Talon Repair, Inspection, Maintenance

The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s Training Directorate has awarded a $100 million contract to Yulista, an aerospace company headquartered in Huntsville, Alabama. Under the contract, Yulista will support the Air Force Sustainment Center’s T-38 Talon Repair, Inspection and Maintenance, or TRIM, program and more rapidly return the supersonic jet trainer to the warfighter, the Air Force Materiel Command said Tuesday.

The Alabama-based company will be in charge of the aircraft’s depot offload, supplementing the Air Force Sustainment Center’s organic depot repair of the T-38.

What is the TRIM Program?

The U.S. Air Force is applying structural modifications to the T-38 Talon to ensure that airmen have access to safe and reliable aircraft. Work on the supersonic jet trainer includes inspection and replacement of key components, extending the aircraft’s service life by up to 10 more years.

TRIM is designed for efficiency, allowing the Air Force and their partners to complete aircraft modifications quickly and cost effectively. The program plays a critical role in maintaining military readiness.

The T-38 was originally developed for the Air Force Air Education and Training Command. It is used to teach students about various aspects of military aviation, including aircraft handling and transonic performance.

Yulista Supports Army

The aerospace company is also providing aviation modernization and maintenance services to the U.S. Army under a contract awarded in July 2024. The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract valued at $219.4 million supports the air integration and engineering division within the Army Combat Capabilities Development Command’s Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance unit.
