What is a GSA Schedule contract?

GSA Schedule (MAS) contract is a pre-negotiated, long-term government contract that lets federal agencies buy directly from you.

Think of it as:

“Pre-approved to sell to the government.”

Your pricing, terms, and compliance are already vetted, which means:

  • shorter sales cycles
  • fewer negotiations
  • easier awards
  • access to tools like GSA Advantage! and eBuy
Do I need to register on SAM.gov?

Yes.

If you want to do any business with the federal government, you must be registered in SAM.gov.

SAM is free and required.

Do I need a GSA Schedule to sell to the government?

Not technically.
But practicallyOften yes.

If your buyers purchase through GSA, not having a Schedule can mean you’re simply not considered.

It’s less about eligibility and more about access.

Is my company eligible for a GSA Schedule?

Most successful applicants meet these basics:

  • At least 2 years in business
  • Financial stability
  • Relevant past performance
  • Commercially available products or services
  • Trade Agreements Act (TAA) compliance

If you check those boxes, you’re likely eligible.

If you’re unsure, this is exactly what we assess during a readiness review.

What are the benefits of having a GSA Schedule?

A Schedule removes friction from government sales.

Instead of starting from scratch every time, you get:

  • One contract usable across all federal agencies
  • Reduced competition pools
  • Visibility on GSA Advantage!
  • Access to RFQs through eBuy
  • Faster awards
  • Shorter sales cycles
  • Alignment with Category Management and Best-in-Class goals

In short:
It makes you easier to buy from.

Should my company get a GSA Schedule?

It depends on three things:

  1. Eligibility
  1. Market demand
  1. Internal readiness

A Schedule is powerful but only if you’re prepared.

I’m a startup. Can I still get a GSA contract?

Possibly.

GSA offers the Startup Springboard program for companies under two years old.

How long does it take to get a GSA Schedule?

Two phases:

Preparation: 2–4 months (sometimes longer)
GSA review & negotiation: 3–9+ months depending on category

Overall, most companies should expect: 6–12 months total

The biggest delays usually come from incomplete documentation or pricing issues, not GSA itself.
