Lockheed Martin to Provide F-35 Flight Test Support to Navy Under $127M Contract Modification

Lockheed Martin has secured a modification for a previously awarded contract to support F-35 fighter jets. The Department of Defense said Monday that the contract modification, awarded by the U.S. Navy, is valued at $126.9 million, with work expected to be completed in March 2026.

The Naval Air Systems Command at Patuxent River in Maryland serves as the contracting activity.

Contract Modification Details

Lockheed Martin will provide continuous F-35 flight test support to the Navy, the U.S. Air Force and non-Department of Defense cooperative program partners. Work on the program will also include administrative, maintenance and test services for training systems labs, flight test labs and Autonomic Logistics Information System/Operational Data Integrated Network labs for new F-35 air system capabilities.

According to the DOD, the majority of work will be performed in Fort Worth, Texas; Palmdale, California; and Patuxent River.

The award adds to the $632.1 million contract Lockheed secured in May 2022 for software builds and developmental flight tests for the F-35 program.

The company also received a $1 billion contract modification from the Navy in August 2024 for F-35 Joint Strike Fighter laboratory facilities and F-35 developmental flight test support.
