Job Type: Full-Time
Job Location: Remote

Overview:

Capitol 50 Consultants, Inc. (Cap50) is a premier government contract consulting firm, established in 1985, that specializes in helping businesses expand their revenue by securing, maintaining, and maximizing government contracts. Cap50 is a trusted leader in strategic consultation, offering expert research, offer preparation, and post-contract maintenance that enables businesses to thrive in government contracting. Our team empowers clients with cutting-edge insights and strategic tools to win contracts with the largest purchaser in the world: the U.S. Federal Government.

We are seeking a highly motivated, results-driven Sales Development Representative (SDR) to join our Business Development team. As an SDR, you will be responsible for identifying and engaging new prospects, initiating meaningful conversations, and qualifying leads to build a strong pipeline for our Account Executives. You will play a crucial role in creating opportunities by introducing potential clients to Cap50’s consulting services and helping them understand how we can support their growth through government contracting.

Key Responsibilities:

Research and Prospecting: As a Sales Development Representative (SDR) at Cap50, you’ll have access to an array of research tools, historical data, and contract forecasting resources to help you strategically identify and target prospects in the government contracting space. These tools will give you a solid foundation, but you’ll still play a key role in driving your own prospecting efforts. Using Cap50’s resources along with your own initiative, you’ll generate new leads and build meaningful connections, setting the stage for future success.

Consultative Outreach: In this role, your primary responsibility will be to introduce prospective clients to federal contracting opportunities and Cap50’s services. Through thoughtful, educational conversations, you will demonstrate how Cap50 can help address their specific challenges. Your consultative approach will ensure that prospects understand the value of Cap50’s tailored solutions in helping them navigate the complexities of government contracting.

Lead Generation & Awareness Building: Using targeted outbound strategies, you’ll generate and qualify leads by identifying the right decision-makers and introducing them to Cap50’s expertise. You’ll play a critical role in building awareness of Cap50’s services and creating a pipeline of potential clients. Your outreach will help position Cap50 as the go-to advisor for businesses looking to secure government contracts and maintain long-term success.

Setting the Stage for Conversion: While you won’t be responsible for closing deals, your work will lay the groundwork for successful conversions. By nurturing leads and facilitating initial interest, you’ll prepare prospects to engage with Cap50’s Account Executives or Business Development team for deeper discussions about securing contracts. Once a prospect is ready to move forward, you’ll ensure a smooth handoff for the next phase of the sales process.

Collaboration & Team Support: As an SDR, you’ll work closely with the Director of Business Development & Strategy and the rest of the Cap50 team. Your role will be to align your prospecting efforts with the company’s broader strategic growth initiatives. Regular collaboration sessions will ensure that your insights and lead generation strategies are aligned with Cap50’s business goals, creating a cohesive and supportive team environment.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree preferred. Professional experience may be considered as a substitute for advanced education.

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with a polished and professional demeanor.

• A self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of autonomy and the ability to think strategically.

• A “win or die” mentality, focusing on proper client selection and premium service delivery.

• Prior experience in government contracting is a plus, but not required. Extensive, ongoing training will be provided.

Reporting Structure:

The Sales Development Representative (SDR) will report directly to the Director of Business Development & Strategy, a leader who is deeply invested in the success, development, and fulfillment of his team members.

What Makes Cap50 Unique:

Cap50’s SDR role is not a typical sales position. You’ll work with dynamic, forward-thinking clients offering some of the most innovative products and services to the U.S. Government. With Cap50, you are more than just a salesperson—you’re a trusted advisor who plays a critical role in shaping client success in the complex world of federal procurement. This opportunity provides access to unparalleled data, precise prospecting tools, and a collaborative environment designed for both personal and professional growth.

Cap50 operates with high energy, believing wholeheartedly in the value of an Enthusiastic, Positive Attitude (EPA). There is an emphasis placed on the importance of focusing on Return on Energy (ROE) and Return on Activity (ROA), ensuring that every effort you invest in your work delivers meaningful outcomes—not just busywork.

Cap50 believes that growth begins with a mindset. A Growth Mindset is championed over a Fixed Mindset, understanding that continuous learning and self-improvement are crucial to long-term success. This belief shapes how the team operates, with a focus on developing strong foundations of belief, which in turn drive productive behaviors, and ultimately, the results.

Belief → Behavior → Results is the guiding leadership principle at Cap50. Priorities will always be communicated clearly and often, ensuring that there is no ambiguity about what needs to be done. You’ll be challenged with opportunities that stretch your capabilities, but always with the support and trust needed to succeed. Empowerment is achieved by pulling teammates up to the tasks they might feel least qualified to perform, which drives growth and instills confidence.

Cap50 has evolved traditional “coaching sessions” where the conversation is one-sided. Instead, leaders engage the team in “2-ways”, where both parties share thoughts, feedback, and ideas. This open dialogue creates a more balanced, collaborative environment where you are not just receiving instructions but contributing to the conversation. This approach ensures that you will have ample opportunity to voice your input and participate in shaping the direction of both your own work and the overall team strategy.

Additionally, Cap50 places a high value on simplicity and the philosophy of “Less but Better.” Getting bogged down in being highly efficient at ineffective tasks is never the goal at Cap50. Instead, focus on what matters most—prioritizing quality over quantity and ensuring that every action is aligned with delivering real results. Cap50 is committed to helping you understand your “why.” It is believed that when you know your purpose, you can endure any challenge or obstacle along the way. This clear sense of purpose is what drives the team forward, helping everyone achieve both personal and professional growth.

Why Join Cap50?

• Work alongside industry leaders in a firm with nearly four decades of experience in government contracting.

• Be part of a high-energy, collaborative team that’s focused on results, growth, and empowerment.

• Receive ongoing training and professional development in government contracting processes.

• Competitive salary with performance-based bonuses, all within an organization that places a premium on delivering value to clients.

If you are passionate about making an impact in the government contracting space, and you thrive in a consultative, client-centered environment, we encourage you to apply.
